7 Warning Signs That We are in Apocalyptic Times (and How to Not Take it Too Seriously)
I was in the grocery the other day, and the aisle where the disinfectants were located was suspiciously empty — wait, what? You’ve experienced the same thing? How weird.
How about this one? When I was in that same grocery store several weeks before, I went to purchase some toilet paper because we were running low, only to find that it was out of stock and — hold on! This, too? Not just you? Your friends as well? What an odd coincidence!
Okay, I’ve let this little charade go on for far too long. It’s pretty obvious that we’ve all experienced it in one way or the other due to all the people panic buying in the supermarket. Anyway, without further ado, here are seven warning signs that we are in the apocalyptic times — and what you can do to be happy about it!
When the media won’t shut up about it
We all know that the media like to take one particular topic and milk it for all its worth. They’re just lucky that the year 2020 has so much to work with as far as the Apocalypse goes. It can honestly be easy to feel depressed and stressed out when everything on television is doom and gloom.
While you likely won’t be able to avoid the news, here’s my advice — don’t bother with popular media beating the dead horse. Watch something more informative, such as how black holes work. There are plenty of fun videos to watch on YouTube!
When chicken sandwiches are sent into space
Yes, you read that right. KFC sent a crispy and spicy zinger into space. The fact that you have to ask yourself why they would possibly want to do something like that is clearly a sign that end times are coming.
What can you do to be happy about such a fact? Well, not much. KFC sent a chicken sandwich to space. That alone means there’s hope for the human race just yet.
When the doomsday prophets are surprisingly quiet
There was a time when Harold Camping put a lot of people in the ringer over a decade ago due to his doomsday predictions involving the Bible and plenty of fish. It got so bad that people started to sell off all their belongings to prepare for the Rapture (of course, it didn’t happen).
The fact that we don’t have another Harold Camping going off about doomsday is probably a sign that the actual Apocalypse is near.
When you can make moon concrete using your urine
Okay, I have to admit that this is probably one of the strangest things about the current year (and this article), but hear me out. Lunar concrete is a mixture of two ingredients — the powdery soil that you find on the moon, and urea. Urea is one of the primary components of human urine, which means it is entirely possible that human urine will pave the way to constructing lunar concrete.
What can you do to be happy about such a fact? Easy. All you have to do is think about how your pee can eventually create buildings on the moon. Considering that future colonization could possibly hinge on how much pee astronauts can produce is a hilariously hopeful sentiment.
When people are calling the current pandemic a hoax
There is no denying that most apocalyptic scenarios will have their own batch of naysayers, but you have to admire the commitment of the anti-COVID troop. If you asked me, I would say that most hoaxes are started by people who just wanna ruffle some feathers and have fun, but it ends up attracting people who honestly believe in the stuff.
Try not to take anything they say seriously, and be sure to take precautions.
When the 2020 Summer Olympics are postponed
I totally understand why they would postpone the Summer Olympics to 2021, but it just goes to show the state of the world right now. It wasn’t like the Olympics were taking place in a difficult region. It was to take place in Japan. If even Japan is having a rough time, you know this is serious.
When you are unsure when the pandemic will end
I don’t mean to end in a sour note, but the pandemic is likely not something that will go away anytime soon. The situation is worsened by all of the anti-mask and anti-COVID nonsense, but it’s not something that we can’t salvage with a bit of hard work. You will probably see things continue for at least a year or two before things finally calm down, but the fact that things will eventually calm down is still reason to be happy.
While things are currently looking pretty awful as far as apocalyptic scenarios go, taking the right precautions means you can protect you and your family from the pandemic. All we have to do now is prepare for the inevitable moment when the Mayans pop up from 2012 to finish the job.
